The time when the elves first settled Shallomar is shrouded in myth and legend as many millennia have passed since the original events. Studious histories conflict with each other as do the legends. The different subraces have their own "agendas" for believing different versions and the accumulated changes to the histories over the eons mean we are probably never going to establish the "truth". What ever the truth the original populating elves intermingled their blood lines and slowly over many centuries two new distinctive clans evolved. Even in the many cross clan marriages the children had the features of either sliver or gold elves, not a mixture of both. Some few centuries after the founding of Shallomar interbreeding between these two clans became rare, and they gradually shifted from being clans to true subraces; each with its own characteristic physical appearance and its own society and culture. |
